FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

In this section we will try to address any questions that customers may ask and show you how to get the best use out of our products.
  1. What are Epicast bases made out of?
Our bases are made of a dyed two part urethane resin, they also contain Iron Oxide which makes them Ferrous to a degree. This adds a bit of weight to the base and also allows them to be attracted by strong magnets.
  2. How do I mount figures on your bases?
Our bases are primarily intended for use with any of the industry miniatures that are being made with Tabs between their feet for use with Slit bases.
Simply cut the tab off between the figures feet leaving a small tab under each foot. Then file the tab under the foot into a pin about 1-2mm in width.
Finally paint red paint on the end of the pin under the foot and while the paint is wet place it on one of our bases. This will leave 2 red dots. Using A pin vise or electric drill, drill two holes in the base with a 2 mm drill bit . The figures pins should sit in the holes and when glued with super glue ensure it doesn't come off. In order to blend the feet into the base - so the figure looks like it is standing on the terrain you may want to scrape the base top where the feet will rest - this will add to the look of the finished figure.
A step by step Photo guide will be featured in this section showing how to do this with various types of miniatures.
  3. How do I paint Epicast Bases
Our resin comes pre finished, so little prep work is necessary except for occasionally filing a little excess off the edge of the base. The bases can be primed with any spray primer, I recommend Krylon primer.
The bases can then be painted with hobby paints or Craft store water soluble paints.
  4. What is Epicast Terrain made out of?
Our terrain is made one of two ways: either a skin of Urethane resin and filled with expanding Urethane foam resin, or compressed Urethane foam resin.
In both cases the terrain can be sanded, primed with Spray primer and painted with hobby or craft paint.
  5. Do you ship Overseas?
Yes we do - we have shipped Product to Germany, Holland, Spain, France, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and South Africa.
We are happy to ship anywhere in the world at cost of postage.
  6. Do you sell to Retailers?
Absolutely, we have great retailers that we deal with regularly both in the US and Overseas. Please check out our Retailer link for overseas retailers.
  7. Do you still have any of your old models?
We get this question a lot - please see the Lost and the Banned section for a history of US resin casting companies that used to work with Games Workshop. All old Games Workshop specific models were produced under a limited copyright agreement that ended in 1995. All of those models are long out of production. The best source is Ebay.
